Keep Brookside Park Chemical Free and Increase Future Chemical Free Parks and Schools in the Durango Area

Please help us in our efforts to let the City of Durango's Parks and Recreation Department know that we as a community appreciate Brookside Park, the only (so far) Chemical Free Park in Durango.

Write or call Cathy Metz at the Parks and Rec Department to let her know of your appreciation and/or concerns and requests!

Let Parks and Rec know that:

  • We appreciate the clean and safe area to let our young people play on the grass and grounds.
  • We appreciate the diversity of plants growing in and among the grass in the park.
  • We appreciate the consideration of not adding chemicals to our watershed.
  • We appreciate the protection of pollinating insects.
  • We appreciate the people who are making the decisions that support organic land practices such as chemical-free parks and school grounds.
  • We encourage and promote more Chemical Free Parks and Schools in the area.
  • We appreciate organic land pracices used on our parks such as compost tea applications, bat houses, weed harvesting, and tolerance, instead of chemical fertilizers, mosquito pesticide sprays, and herbicide treatments on the lawn.

Thank you Parks and Rec for Making a Huge Difference to the Health of Durango's Ecosystem and Community!
