Twin Buttes forum
Having the Sustainability Alliance host such a forum poses several challenges.
- A willing and impartial team, working with the endorsement of the Sustainability Alliance Board of Directors. Neither Werner nor Dick has the time to lead this effort. Who would do it?
- A clear audience. Is there a body of undecided citizens who would attend such a forum, given that two informational events about Twin Buttes have already occurred, in addition to the public hearing by the Planning Commission?
- What would be viable goals?
- What is the chance that we would have a significant short-term impact on the conversation?
- What long-term impact could we hope for?
We two agreed that as a community, we’re missing a systemic sustainability perspective on development and decision-making. This is the conversation we would like to have, but we question whether a Twin Buttes forum would advance it. Moreover, given the upcoming election season, it is difficult to identify a time to initiate the conversation and develop momentum around it.
