La Plata Local Food Policy Council
The La Plata Food Policy Council Working Group is a local group in La Plata County that advocates for local, secure, and sustainable food systems for our community. The FPC aims to tackle local food issues, help generate a greater shift toward local food production and consumption, and increase overall community health through building awareness and providing greater community education.

State Policy

Colorado Food Systems Advisory Council
This group was set up by the Legislature in 2010 to bring "
diverse food-related stakeholders together to identify key food and agriculture issues and opportunities for the State of Colorado." You will find information on their website on state efforts and other Colorado regional policy groups involved in making positive changes in food and agriculture policy.

Federal Policy

There are many groups doing excellent work to help improve federal farm policy.

NCSA: National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture
One of the most comprehensive policy groups nationwide.

Western Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (WSAWG)
This group deals with policy issues most important to producers in the Western US.
