Welcome to the SASCO Web Site

The Sustainability Alliance of Southwest Colorado (SASCO) is an organization committed to incorporating the concept of sustainability into all the workings of the local communities of Southwest Colorado. To do this, we need the involvement of everyone in our community.

For more information about SASCO or to provide feedback, please contact us.

To find out more about our goals and activities to date, see the Mission and Activity Updates pages.

The Sustainability Alliance traces its roots to the 2002 La Plata County Community Summit and the 2003 Sustainable Economic Development Study Circle. A breakout group at the 2004 Community Summit addressed the idea of a "sustainability policy council." To follow the development of the organization since then, see our Meeting Minutes. The founding Board of Directors was nominated on December 12, 2005. They formally adopted Bylaws on February 9, 2006.

Most importantly, if you would like to get involved with sustainable events and activities in the local community, please check out SASCO’s current committees:

Food, Agriculture, & Farm to School: Jim Dyer

Education & Outreach: Heather Gregory

Local and Regional Policy:Dick White

Smart Energy: Dick White — Kim Herb
